In 1965 I headed to Oregon State University to study engineering. In one week in 1970, I graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, was commissioned in the US Army and married Lynda.
I was an engineer for Idaho Power for one year before going on active duty as a Signal Corps officer. Our duty stations were Georgia, New Jersey and Fort Lewis, Washington. I then returned to OSU to earn my master’s in business administration. In 1975 I started my 35-year career with Pacific Northwest Bell / US West / Qwest Communications. I managed plant operations, business services and finally sales engineering, all from Portland.
I was president of the Beaverton Rotary Club in 2008-09. Most recently I served as District Governor for the 80 Rotary clubs in Northern Oregon and Southwest Washington with a membership of 3,700. Through Rotary I became a founding board member and multi-year president of Beaverton Together-Youth Drug Prevention Community Coalition.
We have two successful, married children and two grandchildren. Lynda and I have traveled to Australia, France and Switzerland.
